Saboteur is a new open world "sandbox" style game in development by Pandemic Studios and currently slated for a 2009 release on the Xbox 360, PC and the PlayStation 3. It will be published by Electronic Arts. In Saboteur, players take on the role of Sean, a normal Irishman who happens to be in Paris, France at the same time the Nazis are rolling in to take it over. The purpose of this thread is to give people the most ammount of information on the game as possible. Consider this a Saboteur wikia. With your help this thread will grow!

Official Saboteur Website -

Sean is a racecar driver from Ireland who loves three things, his friends, his car and his women. Whilst living in Paris, however, the German Army takes the city over as part of their occupation of France. One German officer and a few of his colleagues, find Sean's friends one night and brutally murder them. This drives Sean to pursue the killers to exact his revenge.

Conflict: There is conflict in who exactly the Germans kill. Some sources say it's one of his friends, some say a group of his friends, some say his family, some say both his family and friends, some say it's something totally different. Until Pandemic speaks on this matter, it's anybody's guess.

Combat - Being just an average dude means you don't have all those extra hand to hand moves they teach you in the military. Sean has a variety of hand to hand moves he can use in a very rugged style to defeat his enemies. Grabs, headbutts and groin kicks all make an appearance in the game. But as the game progresses, Sean's hand to hand combat skills progress allowing him to become an even deadlier weapon. Weapons also play a big part in the game. While melee weapons are unconfirmed you will be able to use a variety of German firearms such as the famous MP-40 and the STG-44. But you can't just walk around occupied France with a gun slung on your back. That leads to the prescense of Stealth Kills. When an enemy is back on, simply walk up behind him and snap his neck. It also looks as if this game will include ragdoll physics. What game isn't these days?

Will To Fight - Will to fight (abbreviated to Wtf) is a factor that tells how much the people in Paris want you to fight and/or fight with you and also affects the "color" of the city directly. When you begin the game the will to fight is low, the city is grey (with the exception of Nazi flags which glow red) and civilians will be afraid of you. The majority of the city is owned by the Germans and you can't go anywhere without running into a patrol or two. However, fight the Invaders and they will begin to leave each area they occupy. When the German Army leaves an area the color begins to return to the area you have liberated, the sky turns blue and clouds recede, all in real-time. The civilians will cheer you on as you fight with enemy soldiers, and some will gain the courage to even come help you fight. This includes members of the Maquis French Resistance and the British SOE. WTF also affects the sound. When in grey, you will hear ravens cawing and German marching music playing over the radio but in color you will hear songbirds chirping and jazz playing all the time.

Clamoring - Sean is very acrobatic. Whenever needed, he can find his way up any wall or cliff face through the use of drain pipes, ladders, shutters, windowsills, chimneys, brick walls and all manners of objects to get to the safety of a rooftop. This is especially useful when a patrol of German soldiers is coming your way and you can't afford to be noticed.

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 … een007.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e … ur_002.png

Make-Out System - Need to buy some time to get yourself un-noticed by the enemy? Grab the nearest woman and be affectionate! The Nazi's will just think you're a normal civilian couple and continue on their way. She might kiss you back, she might slap you, but its worth it considering the alternative. Nazi's will become suspicious of you if you loiter around in the same area for an extended period of time. This is the best way to keep them from questioning you.

http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/ima … 80-000.jpg

Suspicion - When you commit an act such as fighting a soldier, walking around with a gun slung on your back or killing a person, the Nazi's take notice. They regard you as a common plaything at first but after you piss them off for a bit, their response methods become bigger. It is similar to the wanted star system of the Grand Theft Auto series.
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 … een003.jpg

Papers And Questioning System - On occasion you'll come across a German soldier who's job is to randomly select people for questioning. Upon encountering one you may want to try and avoid him. If you come across an officer he will ask for your identification. If you are in an area with low WTF and don't have the correct papers you are immideatley thrown into a fight.

The Disguise System - The game has a heavy focus on disguises to help move the stealth element along. This includes mostly switching your standard garb with that of dead Nazi and Allied soldiers, allowing you to march alongside them with them not knowing who you are. Of course, these uniforms must be intact. You can't go about wearing a bullet-ridden suit or you'll be discovered. Also, the type of suit allows access to different areas. An officer would have more clearance to higher-security areas than a normal grunt would.

Action Hijacking - Pandemic hasn't spoken on hijacking much, but some form of Mercenaries-style action can be expected. View it at around 0:53 in this video.

Sean Devlin -  Sean is a proffesional racecar driver from Ireland based off real-life racecar driver William Grover-Williams. He is an adrenaline junkie who has never walked away from a barroom fight or walked away from a drink.
   - Brown jacket (default skin)
   - No jacket (possibly from an early build or an in-game option)
   - Other costumes will be available for disguise

Derker(sp?) - The main Nazi in the game, Derker is Sean's nemesis, the one who murdered his friends and family. According to GameInformer, he runs a racecar circuit that Sean participates in.

Wehrmacht - The German Army is the main enemy in the game. You will be fighting them, hiding from them, destroying them, shooting them or assassinating them 90% of the time.

Maquis - The French Resistance has gone inactive at the start of the game. However, liberate some areas and they will come out of hiding to help you in your quest for revenge.

Special Operations Executive - It is unclear what role the SOE will play in the game but the Pandemic staff has stated they will be included, perhaps having one of their agents as a supporting cast memer.

French Civilians - They are afraid of you at first but liberate enough areas and raise your will to fight and they will cheer you on, become enthusiastic and even help you fight the German occupiers.

Allied Army - The Allied soldiers will make brief appearances in the game and fight alongside you.

German Soldier - The basic infantry of the Wehrmacht. Seen mostly armed with an MP-40 or on occasion, an STG-44.

http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/ima … 3_640w.jpg

German Officer - Officers command squads of soldiers. Killing them rewards you with will to fight. They are often armed with a simple Walther P-38 but sometimes have more heavy weapons.

Gestapo - According to Eurogamer, the secret police will in fact chase you via car should you try and escape them. Car chases are a staple of any sandbox game, are they not?

- Enemies will be able to grab a hold of you and keep you in place while their friends attack you.

Walther P-38 - Main German sidearm, commonly used by German officers and other high ranking officials.

Machinegewehr 42 (MG-42) - I'm unsure of this but it's what looks like an MG-42 in the bottom right hand corner of this pic. It could also be an MG-34.
http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/ima … 3_640w.jpg

Flak 88 Cannon - It might be a bit hard to see in this pic but you can tell Sean is looking at it. It may or may not be usable but it probably will be destroyable.

http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/ima … 1_640w.jpg

Stielhandgranate - Main German stick grenade. Unknown if it is usable or not since it is simply attatched to the soldier's leg.

- tapping a guard on the shoulder then sucker punching them in the face

Elbowing - Hitting somebody in the face with your elbow is a good way to make them cry.

Compass - Can be seen in the trailer, may indicate the prescence of a compass on the HUD.

A wide array of vehicles will be available for use in Saboteur. This ranges from cars to trucks to boats to planes to bycicles to motorcycles.

German Cargo Truck - Large military transport, looks like it carries more than one person, keep an eye out for them when they
